Thursday and Friday we will read the explanatory text, "At the Crossroads" on page 228 of your textbook. This is meant to be an example for you to follow when you write your explanatory essay this marking period. It is key for you to know the following:
1. What the purpose of an explanatory text is (to explain)
2. What must be included in an explanatory text (facts)
3. What you should not include in an explanatory text (opinions/arguments)
4. What six questions and explanatory text must answer ( Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?)

Once we have finished reading "Grand Mosque" we will complete the Unit 2 vocabulary chart on page 91 of your textbook. There will be a quiz on this vocabulary next Thursday.
