Week of September 16th

Students this week will be completing their beginning of the year benchmark assessment. We will be using CDT tests as our benchmarks this year and students will complete them at three points throughout the year.

English 7
We will read an informative essay model Monday and Tuesday this week. We will compare and contrast that with our explanatory essay model from last week to prepare for our formal essay for this marking period. Students will also complete paragraph bellringers, which will be due on Thursday.

For the second half of the week, students will complete their CDT tests. I expect these tests to take approximately two days. Students should be finished with their CDT tests by the end of the day on Friday.

English 8
We will read an informative essay model Monday and Tuesday. Students will work in groups to contrast this model to the informative model we read last week. We will come together as a large group to create a master list of similarities and differences between explanatory and informative writing to help students prepare for their essay this marking period. Students will also complete paragraph bellringers, which will be due on Thursday.

For the second half of the week, students will complete their CDT tests. I expect these tests to take approximately two days. Students should be finished with their CDT tests by the end of the day on Friday.
