This week students in seventh grade will be beginning to complete research on their chosen topics for the research paper and students in eighth grade will be reading a play and comparing it to a nonfiction article on the same topic.
English 7
Students will choose their topics for the research paper on Tuesday and review how to evaluate internet sources (poster project). For the remainder of the week students will conduct research and find two sources that answer their research question. Students are required to find and evaluate two sources, but only one source is required to be in the final research paper.
We will complete the Week 5 Paragraph bellringer this week. It will be due on Friday.

Friday: Read and annotate sources from research this week. Due Monday
English 8
Students will begin reading the play Nellie Bly this week. On Thursday, we will read a Washington Post article about Bly regarding the same information from the play. We will compare and contrast the differences between a biographical play and a nonfiction article. Students will complete a very short writing assignment at the end of the week based on their readings and observations.
We will complete the Week 5 Paragraph bellringer this week. It will be due on Friday.
Homework
Friday: Finish Nellie Bly writing assignment (1 paragraph about what you would like to be the first person in the world to do, 1 paragraph about how you will do it. 2 paragraphs total)
