Week of January 8th

With the snow day on Friday and the early dismissal on Monday, our schedule for this week required adjusting. We will spend the majority of this week completing our mid-year benchmark assessment. Students will first take this test with paper and pencil, and will then transfer answers to an online format. To do this, students will need their login information for Pearson Online. Student usernames should be NS followed by the student's ID number, for example NS1234. Student passwords were assigned at the beginning of the year and should not have been changed.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will complete the mid-year benchmark test on paper. Students will transfer their answers to Pearson Online on Friday, January 12th.

On Thursday, students will prepare to read "Dark They Were, and Golden-Eyed." This is a famous short story by Ray Bradbury. This short story was adapted to be a radio play and if time permits students will get the opportunity to compare the two versions.

On Thursday, students will be split into groups to read nonfiction selections that give us different perspectives for our essential question: When is it right to take a stand? We will analyze the way our authors support their opinions and how their actions evoke the changes they want to see. These selections will be used for a jigsaw activity early next week.
