Week of February 10th

Students in 7th grade will continue their work with "Dark They Were, and Golden Eyed" this week with specific focus on elements of fiction including figurative language and author's point of view. Students in 8th grade will have this week to type their research papers and complete their works cited pages.

English 7
On Monday students will listen to an audio recording of "Dark They Were, and Golden Eyed" as their second read of the text. Comprehension check questions from last week will also be checked.
On Tuesday, students will receive definitions of types of figurative language including personification, imagery, simile, and metaphor. We will also complete a worksheet that helps students practice finding evidence for their analysis of the short story. On Wednesday, students will work mostly with partners in the completion of figurative language practice.
On Thursday and Friday, students' knowledge will be extended with focus on author's point of view and how that contributes to the meaning of the text.
